Several years ago St Johns County held public meetings in the Southwest quadrant of St Johns County to gather support and input, from residents, on a proposed roadway project "C.R. 305 Extension." The purpose of this project was to improve mobility and decrease vehicle miles traveled for residents residing in and around Flagler Estates. At the time, this project was favored by the residents of Flagler Estates, the City of Hastings and the surrounding communities. County staff proceeded forward in planning this project and it was included on the list of future roadway projects for St Johns County.
You ask "What is the CR 305 Extension Project and where is it to be located?" The answer: "It is a proposed 4.5 mile roadway that would extend CR 305, from CR 206 to CR 13. CR 305 would intersect with CR 13 near Smiths Farms, just west of the main entrance to Flagler Estates. The existing portion of CR 305 extends from SR 207, in Elkton, to CR 206 just 1 mile east of Southwood Elementary School".
How would this Road Project impact Flagler Estates?

It Would:
• Improve the storm water drainage system bordering Flagler Estates which will assist in reducing flooding issues both within and outside of the boundaries of Flagler Estates.
• Assist in diverting nonresidential and commercial traffic around Flagler Estates instead of through it. Operations and maintenance of 147 miles of roadways within Flagler Estates is paid for by the landowners of Flagler Estate not by the State or local government.
• Save thousands of dollars for almost every public agency in the County. Fire & Rescue & Sheriff's Deputies will have a shorter commute, saving fuel, & reducing response times & possibly saving lives.
• Flagler Estates residents will have a faster & shorter commute to other parts of the County.
• Our school children will have less travel time to/from school and more time for studies & recreation after school.
• It will benefit the environment by decreasing fuel consumption, thus reducing the related carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
On October 30, 2007 this project was on the St Johns County Commission Agenda for approval to purchase necessary mitigation for the full design and permitting of the extension. At that time, there was also an agenda item for approval to accept an offer to donate approximately 66.8 acres of property for the extension of C.R. 305. This land donation falls within the alignment for the C.R. 305 Extension. The appraised value of the land donation was $1,300,000.
Both agenda items for the "CR 305 Extension Project" were deleted from the agenda before County Staff could present it to the St Johns County Commission for approval. These agenda items were deleted by the St Johns County Commissioners at that meeting.
The SJC Commissioners allowed all interested persons to speak regarding the project. It was requested that a Town Hall Meeting be held with the Flagler Estates Community to discuss and educate the people on the "CR 305 Project". The SJC Commissioners agreed to the Town Hall Meeting.
The Flagler Estates Road & Water Control District will be conducting the Town Hall Meeting to discuss the CR 305 Extension Project. The meeting will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the Mt Olive Baptist Church, 8250 CR 13 S., Hastings. For additional information regarding this meeting contact Jackie Vanhorn @ FERWCD 904-692-1513.
All Flagler Estates Landowners & Residents are encouraged to attend this meeting. Your input is vital to keep this project moving forward. This is a publicly advertised meeting and all interested persons may attend.
In attendance at this meeting will be several SJC Commissioners & Joe Stephenson, Director of Public Works for SJC. Mr. Stephenson will be providing the audience with an overview of the CR 305 Extension Project.

The project is highlighted on the map in red
