Long-time St. Johns educator Otis Mason, who became the first black elected superintendent of schools in Florida, will be among a trio of honorees Friday at the Beta Delta Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity’s Legacy Celebration 2014. The scholarship and community service fundraiser will be from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, 100 N. Atlantic Ave. The alumni fraternity chapter advises a fraternity at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach. read more
