PANAMA CITY — Florida Panhandle authorities have filed first-degree murder charges against a man who allegedly killed a former sheriff’s deputy and a couple who had hired him to do electrical work.
According to a two-count indictment filed Wednesday, Derrick Ray Thompson fatally shot Allen Johnson in his Bay County home July 21 during the commission of a felony robbery with a firearm.
The News Herald reports that prosecutors are considering seeking the death penalty.
