According to some new data developed from a study by the University of Florida’s Shimberg Center, despite being the state’s wealthiest county, its haves and have-nots still remain skewed, at least in terms of availability of rental housing.
Census numbers (though four years old) show St. Johns County’s’ median income leads the state at around $63,000. It jumped ahead of South Florida and Gold Coast counties around 2006. Interestingly, the state’s second richest county is Clay — not Collier, Pinellas or Monroe.
