OCALA NATIONAL FOREST — A woman and her adult sun are dead after their canoe sank during a family outing at Half Moon Lake in the Ocala National Forest.
Florida Fish and Wildlife spokesman Greg Workman says the canoe was carrying a 51-year-old woman, her two adult sons and one of the son’s daughters when it began taking on water Sunday evening.
Workman says people across the lake heard a commotion and at first thought the family was just having fun. When they noticed the yelling got stronger, they were able to head across and rescue the two girls and their uncle.
