CRESTVIEW — Authorities are warning the caretakers of a Florida Panhandle zoo to obtain proper permits and make significant improvements for its animals.
The Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge took over the aging Crestview zoo in 2012. Board chairman Matt McGee says the zoo “came with a lot of problems.”
The Northwest Florida Daily News reports that an inspection last month by the U.S. Department of Agriculture noted that while improvements are being made, deficiencies remained.
