DAYTONA BEACH — Legendary racer Dan Gurney won the first Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona 52 years ago. Now his son, Alex Gurney, hopes to follow in his father’s tire tracks.
The younger Gurney won the pole for this weekend’s sports car race at the Daytona International Speedway, not only winning the top-starting spot for his No. 99 Chevrolet Corvette DP team, but for the first race for the newly-created TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.
