LAKE WORTH — A man was able to get out of his truck just moments before officials say it was hit by a South Florida commuter train.
Varoly Olivares says he was following GPS directions in Lake Worth just after 5 a.m. Friday when he turned onto the railroad tracks. By the time he realized his error and tried to back off, his truck got stuck.
Then he saw a southbound Tri-Rail train heading right for him.
The Palm Beach Post reports that Olivares escaped, but his truck was wrecked. The crash held up traffic for several hours.
