Three water management districts in Central Florida plan to withdraw 155 million gallons a day from the St. Johns River over the next 20 years, due to their own water shortage. Their proposal, called the Central Florida Water Initiative Draft Plan (CFWI), acknowledges that central Florida is reaching the sustainable limits of its water source, the Floridan Aquifer.
