St. Johns County deputies estimate a speeding car that wrecked into a pond carrying two 17-year-olds was travelling in excess of 100 miles per hour, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Cmdr. Chuck Mulligan said the crash happened about 9:30 p.m. Saturday and no one was injured.
However, the car did become airborne, tore through bushes and a fence before plunging into a retention pond in the Sawmill Lakes neighborhood right after the Palm Valley Bridge, according to news partner First Coast News.
