TALLAHASSEE — Florida legislators are trading last-minute offers to come up with a final deal on a new state budget. The offers cover everything from state employee pay raises to spending for schools and environmental projects.
A new budget must be on the desk of lawmakers by Tuesday in order for the session to end on time.
The Senate on Sunday offered to back away from a proposal to split up the joint College of Engineering of the Florida A&M University and Florida State University. Instead, the Senate is asking the Florida Board of Governors to study the idea.
