National School Nurse Day recognizes the contributions made by school nurses every day to improve the safety, health and academic success of all students.
Celebrated on May 7 this year, the date coincides with National Nurses Week, May 6-12, which ended on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Nightingale was born on May 12, 1820, in Florence, Italy.
In the United States, more than 73,000 school nurses step up to help students meet challenges they face on a daily basis and to advance overall student health.
