With a new Dollar General store approved by the St. Johns County Commission this week, rural Flagler Estates may soon find itself with a tiny “downtown” shopping area.
The commission unanimously approved rezoning 1.9 acres at County Road 13 South and Flagler Estates Boulevard to allow construction of the new store, which was also approved 6-0 by the county’s Planning and Zoning Agency on April 19. |

 Over the past year we at FlaglerEstates.com have received several emails and phone calls from people interested in environment friendly and energy efficient housing. One area resident describes it as follows:
Flagler Estates is a subdivision of small acreages in a rural setting. Farm animals, growing own produce, and escaping the city life are some of the reasons why people choose to live here. The majority of lots are 1.25 acres in size, which provides the desired privacy. There are no restrictions on size and type of house when building. However, septic and well are necessary. Deep Creek is a canal that flows through the subdivision emptying into the St. Johns River. Flagler Estates is located about 25 min from the beach, 1 hr from Jacksonville, FL, and 40 min from St Augustine, FL. |
